Why is my puppy a fussy eater?
Are you struggling to find a food that your fussy puppy loves? Do you know anyone else facing a similar issue? You're not alone. Many pet owners believe that their puppy's reluctance to eat is a matter of taste, but often, it's not just about finding a food they "like."
Let's explore the real issues and effective strategies to ensure your puppy not only eats well but enjoys it too!
Keep Consistent
Frequently changing your puppy's food in search of the "perfect" food can actually be counterproductive. Puppies thrive on routine, and constant changes can cause digestive upset and increase fussiness. Instead, choose a high-quality, nutritionally balanced food (like ours!) and stick with it. This consistency helps your puppy adjust to and eventually enjoy their regular meals.
Create a Positive Eating Environment
The eating environment plays a crucial role in your puppy's mealtime behaviour. Ensure a quiet, distraction-free area for your puppy to eat. Stress, loud noises, or too much activity can deter them from eating. Also, establish a fixed feeding schedule. Consistent meal times help regulate their hunger and improve their eating habits.
Mix It Up (The Right Way!)
Whilst I don't recommend constantly switching foods, adding variety in the right way can stimulate your puppy's appetite. Try mixing in a little bit of warm water with our dry kibble, to enhance the aroma and flavour. Remember, any additions should be healthy and suitable for puppies.
We have several Puppy blends to choose from, if you need any help with this, please do not hesitate to book a call to discuss via the Contact page.
