What are amino acids in dog food?

Today I wanted to talk about Amino Acids. I came across a post recently in a Facebook Group about how to make sure your dog is getting enough, so I have put together this blog about what they are, why your dog needs them and our best blends for amino acids!

Amino acids are often referred to as the building blocks of life. They are fundamental to the construction of proteins, which are essential for virtually every biological process. In dogs, amino acids help build muscle, support metabolism, aid in repairing tissues, and contribute to a healthy immune system. They also play a role in creating hormones and neurotransmitters that regulate mood and behaviour.

There are twenty-two amino acids that dogs need, and while their bodies can manufacture some, there are ten they must receive from their diet, known as the "essential amino acids." This is where the quality of your dog’s food becomes vital.

Our beef Blends are crafted with this science in mind. Rich in high-quality protein, they have these essential amino acids to ensure your dog isn’t just enjoying their meal but is also receiving the comprehensive nutrition they need. Including a diet high in amino acids can support your dog’s energy levels, coat sheen (if applicable), and muscle strength, and can even help in faster recovery from wounds or surgeries.

We are committed to supporting the longevity and happiness of your pets through vet-approved nutrition. Give one of our Beef Blends a try and see the difference that a diet rich in amino acids can make for their health and vitality!
